THESE DAYS

Village

Yvon Lambert

"This collection of photographs was taken while my mind was slowly crawling up from rock bottom.

At that time at rock bottom, I was suffocating like I was underwater.

If I were really underwater, I could get out of the water and breathe oxygen, but in reality, I'm not underwater.

Oh, I don't know what to do.  I felt like I would drown if I didn't do something, so I took pictures every day as if I were grabbing a float from underwater.

I still don't really know what the point of taking pictures every day is.

What I do know is that no matter how hard and painful the situation is, when I take a picture, I can get out of it for a moment, say 1/200th of a second. For a very small amount of time, I can get out of a place like underwater and breathe.

You breathe in air slowly through your nose and exhale through your mouth.  That's all you need to do.  Maybe."
